Home Delivered Meal Program

Seniors are eligible for home delivered meals when they are unable to shop and prepare meals for themselves due to health conditions. and they have no reliable support to help them with this task. An eligibility assessment is completed by a caseworker.

 

Family members and patient discharge planners from medical institutions can make referrals for individuals with their consent. Meals are delivered weekly by County drivers.

Who Qualifies for This Service?

Eligibility for home delivered meal services are assessed by a County case worker.

  • Mecklenburg County residents, age 60+ who are unable to obtain food or prepare meals due to physical and/or cognitive impairments and they have no responsible person who is able and willing to perform this service.

  • Are unable to attend a congregate nutrition site because of physical or mental impairment

  • Spouse of an individual who is determined eligible for homebound service.

How to Apply

  • Individual interested in this service must call Just 1 Call at 704-432-1111. A medical provider, family member, caregiver, or a friend may call and make the referral for the potential client.

  • For short term meal service, individual must call 704-336-3144. Referrals can also be made by a medical provider, family member, caregiver or a friend.
