What you need to know about adopting a child.

Mecklenburg County Department of Social Services, in partnership with Child Care Resources Inc. (CCRI), provides subsidized child care for working families, families engaged in workforce preparedness training, and families engaged with other Mecklenburg County support services. 

Child Protective Services is legally mandated for children alleged to be abused, neglected, and/or dependent, and who are at imminent risk of harm due to actions by the child’s parent or caretaker.

Provides social work and case management assistance for adults, seniors and disabled citizens who fall outside of protective services and public assistance services.

Provides children a safe, nurturing, and temporary home, when they are unable to remain with their biological families due to safety concerns.

A family caregiver support program for any older relative raising younger children such as grandparents raising their grandchildren. 

High-quality, free pre-k education for eligible four-year-old children in Mecklenburg County. 

Provides coordinated non-emergency medical and general public transportation to eligible residents in Mecklenburg County.
