Adoption and Foster Care

The Mecklenburg County Department of Social Services Adoption and Foster Care program assists children cleared for adoption with finding temporary placement within approved foster homes or permanent homes.

If it is necessary for a child to come into Mecklenburg County's foster care system, our first goal is to work toward reunifying the child with the birth or biological family. If Mecklenburg County is unable to reunify the child with their family, social workers immediately begin searching for a new permanent family for the child.

If you want to learn more about foster care or adoption, or if you have a concern or suggestion, please fill out the Information Request Form. A social worker will contact you within two business days.
