  5. Mecklenburg County Offers Condolences and Support for Law Enforcement After Shootings

    Leaders and staff from Mecklenburg County government, including the Board of County Commissioners and County Manager’s office, offer their condolences and support to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD), the U.S. Marshals Service,  and our entire law enforcement community following the shooting deaths and injuries of several officers.

    As a spotlight on Mental Health Awareness Month, Public Health’s Resiliency in Communities After Stress and Trauma (ReCAST) II team will offer a wide array of educational opportunities throughout May to build mental well-being. 

  7. Connecting with Social Media: Mecklenburg County Awarded for Excellence

    Mecklenburg County’s social media team received three “Excellence in Communications Awards” from NC3C, or North Carolina City and County Communicators. NC3C includes communicators from cities, counties, universities, and other agencies across the state. The Excellence in Communications Awards recognize great local government communicators and foster achievement among members by showcasing top-level work.

  8. Mecklenburg County Awarded for Strategic Planning and Performance Measures

    Mecklenburg County government has been presented with 2024 Organizational Leadership Award from the American Society for Public Administration’s (ASPA) Center for Accountability and Performance (CAP). The award recognizes outstanding applications of performance measurement that produces culture change, sustained improvements, and positive effects on government performance and accountability.

  9. MECK Pre-K: Seven Years of Preparing Children for Success

    MECK Pre-K is now accepting applications for the 2024-2025 school year, seven years after first enrolling students for the innovative program.  MECK Pre-K offers high-quality education for all 4-year-old children residing in Mecklenburg County at no cost to their families. The program was developed to address the Board of County Commissioners’ Early Childhood Development priority, which pledges to expand services that promote healthy early childhood development and education from ages birth to 5 years.
