Adoption Assistance

Adoption assistance is a financial assistance program that helps adoptive parents meet the needs of children with special needs, are older, or are members of a sibling group.

Types of Assistance

  • Medical Vendor Payments - Payments to a provider or reimbursements to adoptive parents for medical conditions that arise due to preexisting conditions or the child’s heredity. Examples include medication for hyperactivity or eyeglasses.

  • Therapeutic Vendor Payments - Payments to a provider or reimbursements to adoptive parents for psychological or remedial services needed due to preexisting conditions or the child’s heredity. Examples include therapy for a child who was traumatized by abuse or neglect or tutoring for a child with a learning disability.

  • Medicaid Medical Coverage - Provided to all adopted children.

  • Non-recurring Cost - We provide a one-time payment for expenses involved in adopting a child. Examples include airfare for parents to travel to meet the child they plan to adopt or a court filing fee for parents’ petition to adopt.
